Review: We all have the feeling from the Lord that life is our own. We also have the reality, which truth teaches us, that all our life, power, and strength are from the Lord alone. As He teaches, “Without Me you can do nothing.”
Meaning: We are reminded by many stories in the Lord’s Word of how important our attitude is in our spiritual life. There are many references to those who received blessings from the Lord because they possessed humility: people like Abel, Moses, Abraham, David, the Centurion, and the tax collector. Conversely, we see examples of people with hard hearts whose lives were cursed: for example, Cain and Pharaoh.
Task: This week work on cultivating a mind and heart possessing true humility. Do this by beginning your day with a prayer for help and thanks; take time to humble yourself before the Lord’s Word and read for guidance and instruction; offer prayers of thanks before meals; before going to sleep again get on your knees and thank the Lord for many blessings of the day, and end the prayer by saying, “Without you Lord, I acknowledge, I can do nothing. With You all things are possible. Into Your hands do I commit my spirit” (See John 15:5, Matthew 19:26, Luke 23:46)
