Why Was I Created?

So, why do you think you were created?  No, I am not talking about somebody else (stop looking behind you).  Why do you think the Creator of the Universe, the all knowing, all powerful, all present God of heaven and earth designed and built you and set you on this earth, at this time in history?  Why are you here?

Some in jest like to say things like, “To get everything you can before you get out.” or “Whoever dies with the most toys wins.”

We know this is not why the Lord created you or me.

One of the leading teachings from the Lord about why He created us is so that there may be a heaven from the human race–that heaven may be populated by people from the natural world. [LJ 13] That is the Lord’s purpose in creating the world and all the people on it, and His individual purpose in creating you.  We are even taught that we are each created predestined for heaven.  That is what the program was written to do.  For example, if you own a corkscrew experience has shown you that there is not a whole lot you can do that is particularly useful with a corkscrew except to remove corks from bottles of wine.  It doesn’t serve well as a hammer, for cleaning carpets, or for slicing bread.  It does a really great job of opening bottles of wine–better than anything else I have ever tried.  It would be a shame to be spending my life trying to use my corkscrew for other things or to try and open wine with all the other kitchen tools I have.  But something really wonderful happens when the two meet–a bottle that has been sealed in a particular way is opened in the way it was designed to be.

More often than not we spend our lives in pursuit of something that isn’t really what we are supposed to be doing.  So naturally we find ourselves frustrated, impatient, angry, apathetic or unfulfilled.

What would life be like if we were living in the way that we were designed to live?  What if we had a clear and firm understanding of what we are to be doing with this life the Lord has given us?  I believe that we would be incredibly happy and fulfilled.  We all have had that experience at least once in our lives where our particular gifts and talents were utilized in a way that allowed us to be the best we can be.  And it felt great.  We can have more experiences like that–in fact our whole life can be like that it we discover what it is we are created for and start living in that way. “All who claim me as their God will come, for I have made them for my glory. It was I who created them.”   [Isaiah 43:7]
